Meet Nada Ghanem – Founder & Managing Director
Nada is a leading expert in industrial-scale vermicomposting, with more than 12 years of hands-on experience in designing and optimizing large-scale worm composting systems. She leads DOODA Solutions’ scientific development, product innovation, and overall strategy.
She holds a BSc in Environmental Health and an MSc in Environmental Sciences & Ecosystem Management from the American University of Beirut, and is currently completing her PhD at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Her blend of academic depth/rigor and practical field experience allows her to bridge scientific research with real-world application, ensuring DOODA Solutions’ products are effective, scalable, and evidence-driven.
Where DOODA Solutions Began: Inspired by Earthworms
Earthworms are nature’s silent engineers, regenerating soil, recycling organic matter, and sustaining ecosystems beneath our feet. Despite their importance, they are often overlooked.
Nada saw their power early on. Her fascination with their role in soil health inspired the name DOODA, meaning “worms” in Arabic. It is both a tribute to these vital organisms and a reflection of the company’s mission: restoring ecosystems from the ground up.
Challenges, Disruption, and Perseverance
Introducing vermicomposting to Lebanon and the Middle East was no easy feat. Nada faced skepticism, lack of awareness, and the hurdles of creating a market for a completely new approach to sustainable farming. She also navigated the challenges of establishing and leading an agricultural business in a traditionally male-dominated field, confronting gender bias, social pressure, and the stigma that work with worms and soil was “not a woman’s job”.
Yet, driven by her passion, vision, and resilient leadership, she persevered. A true disruptor, Nada not only opened a new market but led it, innovating, educating, and growing her solutions despite the challenges. Her determination has made DOODA Solutions a regional leader in nature-based, sustainable farming solutions.
